Abigail Breslin assigned to 'Class Project'

BreslinEXCLUSIVE: "Little Miss Sunshine" star Abigail Breslin is going to a much darker place: a lead role in indie drama "The Class Project."Stan Brooks is directing from a script by Fabrizio Filippo and Adam Till. Story follows two sisters who, tired of their mother's alcoholism and her abusive boyfriends, take matters into their own hands and plot to kill her.Michael Rotenberg ("Extract") is producing with Damian Ganczewski and Juliette Hagopian. Production is skedded to start later this month.Breslin next stars opposite Alessandro Nivola in Tribeca Films' "Janie Jones," slated to open Oct. 28. Thesp, who recently voiced a role in Gore Verbinski's "Rango," also appears amidst the ensemble of Garry Marshall's "New Year's Eve," which Warner Bros. releases Dec. 9.Breslin is repped by ICM and Untitled Entertainment.
